What are the characteristics of mammals?

Mammals are warm-blooded and have fur on their bodies. They give birth to live young except for marsupials, which are mammals that lay eggs. Mammal mothers nurse their babies with their milk. Their brains have a neocortex. This means they can make distinction between themselves and their environment. They also use their senses in more complex ways than other animals.
